A Hotel or Villa in Florida by Craig Walker.

After booking your Florida flights you will then need to arrange appropriate accommodation. Do you stay in a hotel or rent a private villa? Your choice will depend on the size of your family or the number of people travelling with you.

When people in Europe go on holiday they generally stay in a hotel or a self catering apartment. In Florida the option to stay in a private villa is not normally available and is something new to consider

What could be the main differences between a private holiday villa as compared to a normal hotel in Florida?

When you stay in a hotel room generally all the family are in the one room and depending on how many are travelling you may need more than one room which will add to the costs. When you have a private holiday home you will have more than one bedroom and a couch that can be made into another bed. So if you need more than one bedroom a villa can offer you this and may work out cheaper than having to get three separate hotel rooms.

Villas are generally furnished to a very high standard and offer more space than any hotel room would. Most villas are privately owned and the owners use them at certain times of the year.

Another thing to consider if that if you need to get more than one hotel room there is no guarantee that you will get them together. You could have a room on one floor and the other could be on a different floor in a different part of the hotel.

Lots of hotels can be noisy and people staying in rooms nearby are free to come and go as they please. This means that there could be noise at any time of the night, especially if the people next to you have been out all night at a club.

In your Florida villa you will have cooking facilities should you wish as well as a fridge to stock up with drinks so you don't need to keep going down to the next floor with your ice bucket and a hand full of change for a vending machine.

Some of the Florida villas available to rent have their own swimming pool. This can be a very popular option as only you and your friends and family are able to use it. On the downside the pools are generally quite small whereas the hotels normally have large pools shared between all its guests.

In the off-peak and sometimes colder months of the year the pools require heating and in most villas this comes at an extra cost. The charges for this vary but could be as much as $40 per day however in a hotel there would be no charge.

Before you decide on what accommodation you want make sure you get the right Florida flights. There are lots of alternatives flights to Florida and airlines to choose from, it might be better to book an inclusive deal.
